Waste Management

Despite mounting social and commercial pressure to embrace the ‘Green Culture’ and reduce carbon emissions, many organisations are still only paying ‘lip service’ to the concept. It has been estimated that less than 50% of UK companies have an Environmental Policy in place and of those, a significant proportion only have the Policy document in place, and have made little or no progress in actively reducing their footprint.

The Environment

The environment, and how businesses interact and engage with it, has been a major part of Turnpower’s history.  Our Environmental Policy has continued to grow and change with the modern world, and as we see it move through its third decade of operation, we remain proud ambassadors for comprehensive environmental services to our clients.

Turnpower have been working to our environmental policy for over 2 decades. We are proudly approved by the Environmental Agency as an accredited waste removal specialist

Waste Removal

Waste management may not be at the top of everyone’s agenda, but from a cost perspective, it’s an increasingly important one.

Turnpower’s range of services covers the full array of waste management requirements, from internal recycling bins to bulk tankers for liquid sludge, food waste solutions to on-site equipment hire, secure confidential destruction to commodity trading and everything in between.

Our 30 years’ experience means that we are equipped for all situations that may arise, including emergency collections and ad-hoc clearances.

We have the flexibility to find the most suitable and cost-effective service for you. We can base our own employees at your site to run your waste management activities, or use our team of nationwide specialists to achieve and exceed your sustainability targets year-on-year.

Environmental Policy

At Turnpower, we have been operating to our Environmental Policy for over 23 years and will soon be celebrating the 25th anniversary of our approval by the Environment Agency as an accredited Waste Removal Specialist in London and the Home Counties. During the period since our approval, we have been providing a comprehensive service for numerous customers with the collection, recycling and legal disposal of all forms of waste.

Our range of services are directed towards three specialist areas, namely:

● General waste resulting from the clearance of premises and/or ‘fly tipping’ or ‘dumping’. This includes garden clearance and vegetation removal.

● Product & Packaging disposal in respect of faulty or returned goods.

● Lamp, Tube, Electrical and Electronic goods removal for recycling under European Directives – WEEE & ROHS.

Whilst the first two items are relatively straightforward, the advent of the European Directives on recycling: The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (ROHS), have had significant cost implications for most commercial businesses.

The strict new legal obligations of these directives mean that it is no longer acceptable to dispose of electrical items such as computers, old lamps and tubes etc. in landfill sites. They must be recycled or carefully disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner. In all cases, Turnpower are able to offer an efficient collection service and provide certified Waste Transfer Records to meet statutory requirements under the Environment Protection Act 1990 and The Duty of Care Regulations 1991.
